Why use our mobile data SIM cards?

Quayside Technical Services provide data SIM cards to our customers for various applications. One of the benefits for customers is that we handle all aspects of the connection, from initial connection through to billing and troubleshooting. There is no need for our customers to ever need to sit in a telephone queue for a network!

We have customers using our SIM cards for various applications: as a backup connection, to increase their Internet speeds using 4G, or for remote monitoring. Our SIM cards are perfect to go into your cellular-enabled tablet – adding a SIM card to your iPad means that it will always be up-to-date, wherever you go.

Our SIM cards can have fixed IP addresses, and are useful in a variety of situations and for various applications. Some of our customers, for example, use our SIM cards as a backup connection, while others use them to increase internet speeds with 4G (a fantastic solution in areas that cannot get fibre broadband) and still more for remote monitoring – such as monitoring CCTV at remote sites without an internet connection (e.g. building sites). Our multi-net SIM cards are particularly useful in areas with poor signal and are perfect for M2M applications, such as vehicle tracking, sensors and telematics. 

We can provide SIM cards on all of the major networks, and also our multi-net cards which will automatically connect to the strongest network signal.

You may have equipment that can already accommodate a SIM card – many routers now have SIM card slots built in, or have a socket to take a USB modem. Alternatively, we can provide cellular routers that can link to your existing router as a primary or backup route. Similarly, we can replace your firewall/router with a unit that can handle switchover from your primary (xDSL) connection to cellular, sometimes with no noticeable drop in connection. If your building does not have cellular signal, we can use external, directional antennas to improve signal and therefore speed.

We can also aggregate data allowances across multiple SIM cards. This is ideal for businesses that use a large number of SIM cards, and are unsure from month to month who will be a heavy user. 

All of our data SIM card packages are designed specifically to allow data use by businesses in routers. If you purchase a SIM card via a network’s retail/online/phone channels you will be bound by those terms and conditions. Often it is specified that the SIM card cannot be used by a business in a router. Although it can be argued that businesses with under ten employees have the same consumer rights as an individual, this doesn’t help when your SIM card suddenly gets blocked by the network! Our SIM cards have none of these contractual restrictions.
