Disaster Recovery

Disaster recovery
Disaster mitigation and recovery is one of the hottest topics in the industry. Companies were first interested in protecting physical IT assets, using battery backups and physical security. The next trend was around backups. Data is more valuable than the hardware that it sits on. Businesses backed up to ensure that data was adequately protected in the case of fire, theft or virus damage.
Time is precious, businesses understand that when disaster strikes, just having their data ready to restore is not good enough. Just as businesses need to be resilient enough to shrug off hard times, they need the same capabilities within their IT infrastructure.
If your customers cannot purchase from you because your systems are down, they will simply go to one of your competitors. Those that operate in professional services industries know how many thousands of pounds they are losing in billable time. And lastly, those in manufacturing know what deadlines they are missing, and what financial penalties they are accruing as a result of lost production time.
Our disaster recovery platform allows you to:
BACKUP
Backup your critical systems as often as every five minutes to a local disaster recovery device.
REPLICATE
KEEP WORKING
PROTECT
Ask yourself about your current backup solution
What support does your current backup solution offer? Have you got a clear escalation path if you try to restore a backup and it fails?
How do you ensure that your backup have not only run successfully, but can be successfully restored?
When did you last conduct a full disaster recovery test?
Have you looked at how long your backups take to restore? You could have a server unusable for 7-8 hours while restoring to a bootable state.
What protection does your current system offer against crypto-viruses?
Office 365 backups
You need to be able to see and potentially respond to emails, wherever and whenever. Your emails need to secure, and need to run on a reliable infrastructure to give you maximum availability.
You can probably set up email on your phone, but does it synchronise fully with your desktop email? Is your calendar and contact information also synchronised?
Why Office 365?
With Microsoft Office 365, we are able to provide you with all the above and more! Office 365 provides best in class business email for you. It comes in various subscription levels, each with different feature sets. You can even buy Office 365 subscriptions that include fully-installable versions of Word, Excel and Outlook. This removes the need to purchase a full copy of Office, and keeps you up to date with the latest versions.
Email is protected using best-in-class anti-spam technologies, eliminating threats before they reach you. This takes pressure off your Internet connection when compared to on-premise email. This can sometimes make your Internet connection appear faster. The Microsoft cloud platform has huge capacity and can handle large DoS (Denial of Service) attacks, protecting you from attacks that would take down a normal office Internet connection.
Online backups
As a computer user, you are a constant creator of data. This data is far more valuable than the computer that it is sitting on.
80% of businesses affected by a major incident (like data loss) never reopen, or close within 18 months of the incident (Source: AXA).
Why use our backup solution?
You need to ensure that your data is backed up, regularly, and with as little user intervention required.
Our online backup solutions will give you full confidence that your data is safely stored and you have proper protection. Backups are fully encrypted and we are unable to decrypt them without your encryption keys, which you can create without our knowledge, and store securely yourself.
We have a variety of cost-effective solutions, depending on your setup and requirements. For our customers that operate in regulated industries, we can offer a backup solution that is an end-to-end ISO 27001:2013 approved environment.
For those customer whose requirements are slightly more relaxed, we can back up to our own private cloud, which offers an SLA of 99.9% availability and data durability of 99.999999999%. One of the benefits of our private cloud is that it replicates to a secure local location onto fully encrypted storage. This means that should terabytes of data be required to perform a restore in the event of a disaster, the data is also available nearby for local-LAN speed restoration, rather than waiting on an invariably slower Internet connection.
Installation of our backup product is easy. We will handle all of the installation work for you, and monitor the backups for you, leaving you with the confidence that your data is protected.
Telecoms Disaster recovery
We also have a very intelligent inbound call routing system that can be used in many different scenarios. We can provide you with a geographic, or non-geographic number which routes through to our system.
We all know that we can get BT to divert to a mobile, but what happens when all calls for a 50 user phone system start going to ONE mobile?
With our system, we can pre-program the system with a series of mobile or landline numbers, so that if your office phone system fails, we can have your contingency plan up and running as quickly as your landline provider can divert your telephone number.
Once the call is in our system, the magic starts:
Fax to Email - give your number out as a fax number. Incoming faxes will be converted into PDF's and emailed to you.
Intelligent Routing - when a call comes in, we can make it ring a group of mobiles, landlines, or a combination. This can emulate the functionality of a traditional phone system, but using your existing hardware.
Voicemail - we can set up the number to function purely as a voice mailbox.
Time of Day Routing - adjust the behaviour of the service, based on different times/days of the week.
Queueing - we can implement call queueing to handle overflow. And much more!
4G Failover
In this connected age, consistent and reliable connectivity is critical. Losing your Internet connection at home may be little more than an annoyance, but in a commercial environment, outages cause losses of productivity and profits.
Our 4G solutions complement your primary Internet connection. In short, they provide failover connectivity when your primary connection fails. Having a properly implemented system in place to protect you, before disaster strikes, is important. Rushing to add something in when thing go wrong can cause knock-on effects.
In some regions, 4G is in faster than a wired Internet connection, so it is a viable option. We provide SIM cards from all the main networks, with different bandwidth allowances. We even have SIM cards with unlimited data transfer allowances.
All of our data SIM card packages are designed specifically for data use by businesses in routers. If you purchase a SIM card via a network’s retail/online/phone channels you will be bound by those terms and conditions. Often it is specified that the SIM card cannot be used by a business. Although it can be argued that businesses with under ten employees have the same consumer rights as an individual, this doesn’t help when your failover SIM card suddenly gets blocked by the network! Our SIM cards have none of these contractual restrictions.
As part of us implementing a solution for you, we will:
- Survey and test to ensure that we are providing you with the correct hardware, network, and equipment location for your building and infrastructure.
- Understand your network, and the type/amount of data flowing to/from the Internet. This controls costs, and makes sure that we are implementing the right solution from the right network.
- Monitor the connection so that we can detect that your primary connection has failed. Sometimes the failover connection can be fast enough that you might not realise your primary connection is down.
Some options available with our sim cards:
- Choose from all of the main networks, depending on nearby mast availability.
- A variety of data transfer allowances, based on your anticipated failover requirements.
- Unlimited data transfer allowances available for heavy users.
- Data transfer allowances being easily topped-up by you, using our portal.
- Fixed IP SIM cards.
- “IP Persistence” – if we supply your Internet connection, we can present the SAME Internet IP address on your 4G backup connection. This helps with scenarios that require access from/to a specific IP address.
