Sometimes removing malware can be straightforward, and sometimes it is not. Quite often a client may think that messages appearing onscreen are genuine Windows messages, but these messages are from the malware, trying to get the client to buy software that will allegedly remove the infection.
In this case, there was no antivirus software installed on the machine, making it extremely prone to infection. After cleaning the machine out with several different tools, we installed suitable antivirus software onto the machine. We see this client on a very regular basis, and since us doing the work his machine has remained clean and in good order.
